RAMBO RIDES AGAIN
This time, he’s on American Quarter Horses.

Rambo. The name immediately conjures up a muscular Sylvester Stallone packing a huge machine gun in the midst of violent death, vengeance and mayhem. But with “Rambo: Last Blood,” being released in theaters on September 20, we’ll see another side of the character John Rambo: reining horse aficionado and Arizona rancher.
That’s right, Rambo is a rancher who rides reiners.
The
trailer for the movie begins with Stallone’s iconic character in a rocking chair on the porch of a ranch house. In short order, we see him loping across an outdoor arena on Yankee Gun, a 2009 bay stallion with a bald face and $151,000 in National Reining Horse Association earnings, owned by Gennaro Lendi of Italy.
The shot then pans to overhead, as we see Stallone in a wicked spin atop Yankee Gun (Rowdy Yankee-Snow Gun by Colonels Smoking Gun). Of course, the trailer soon gets to more typical Rambo fare, as the ranch is converted into a booby-trap-filled fortress of doom for the bad guys.
Just as horses play an important role in Rambo’s back story, they also figure prominently in Sly’s own life, as he and his daughters are avid horse enthusiasts.
The actor played polo competitively in his younger years and has two American Quarter Horses registered in his name, including Crome Plated Step, who has been shown in AQHA reining competition by daughters Sistine and Scarlet Rose Stallone and trainer Tom Foran and has almost $69,000 in NRHA earnings.
